A lot of my work is influenced by greek food, terrain and culture- this work features symbolic objects used in the process of making art.
Laurels- a symbol of honor, representing the recognition of work, a short resting place of accomplishment between projects.
Pomegranate- a symbol of Persephone, representing the constant death and rebirth of the creative process, and the fertility of the mind.
Daffodils- a symbol of Narcissus, representing the confidence (or is it delusion?) that is neccesary to put art out into the world.
Wine- a symbol of Dionysus, representing the merriment of youth and self expression.
Butter, Lemon, Olives- commonly used ingredients in greek cooking, and commonly used objects in my still life paintings. Essential and dependable.
